The Triple Scorpio's punk-influenced rock and roll borrows elements from punk, garage rock, and pop music, referencing musical influences as diverse as Social Distortion, Rocket From The Crypt, Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello.

Vocalist/guitarist Joseph Grey began the outline for the band over a decade ago. While performing as guitarist for garage rock darlings Secret Crush Society, he wrote and recorded songs about his experiences living in New Orleans, Baltimore and New York City. Using the classic punk music he grew up with as a backdrop, Grey's lyrics tell tales of addiction, redemption, complicated loves and personal losses. The songs on this site are demos recorded by Grey in his home studio between 2002 and 2010, using a combination of electronic and live instruments.

After relocating from Brooklyn, New York to the band's home base of Austin, Texas in 2009, Grey teamed up with drummer Tim Hell who played with Sad Like Crazy and a short time with The Flametrick Subs, to transform The Triple Scorpio from a one-man electronic music project into a living, breathing rock and roll band. The band solidified their lineup in the spring of 2011 after adding Seattle transplant Foxy James and bassist Erik Noise to the group. The band began playing live in the summer of 2011 and plans to begin work on their first album later in the year.

The bartender approached me with a smile. "Where ya headin', young man?" "Las Vegas," I said. He smiled. "A great town, that Vegas. You'll have good luck there, you're the type." "I know," I said. "I'm a Triple Scorpio." He seemed pleased. "That's a fine combination," he said. "You can't lose."
